Would you like to have a rubbish day at school – and help save the planet and its people?

If your school is looking for a fundraising challenge that will help people in poverty deal with their waste, and recycle as much as possible – you’re in the right place.

For your ‘rubbish day at school’ fundraiser, why don’t you all pay £1 or £2 to dress in green, and make it a Green Bin day?

If you want to go beyond the school gates, you could consider:

Idea #1
Litter picking

A sponsored waste walk or litter-pick is a fun way to serve your local community and raise funds for a Bin Twin. Here are our top tips…

Idea #2
Plastic-free lunch

How about bringing a plastic-free lunch to school, and having a picnic with your classmates? Choose a date and ask everyone to bring along their own lunch that does NOT include any single-use plastics (that means no cling film, plastic bags, plastic cutlery, plastic straws or disposable cups, no crisp packets or plastic sweet/chocolate wrappers). Here are some top tips on how to be plastic-free.

Idea #3
Set up shop

Sell, sell, sell all those unwanted items uncovered in lockdown, or use your creative skills to make and trade. Plants, keyrings, face masks…

Idea #4
Go the distance

Set yourself a running, cycling (or tap dancing) challenge… or, if you want to combine jogging with litter-picking, it’s apparently called plogging – and that might be a really great way to raise enough for a Bin Twin (or two)!

Idea #5
Donate your everyday

What do you love? Chocolate? Crisps? Biscuits? Give them up for a week, and encourage friends or family members to do the same, and donate the money you save.

Or… why don’t you start thinking up your own ‘rubbish’ idea that could raise enough to twin a bin or two in your school?

We’re here to help in any way we can.
